THE BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN
Admit you are a sinner.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” —Romans 3:23
2. Know that the penalty for sin is death and eternity in hell.
“For the wages of sin is death;”
—Romans 6:23
“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
—Revelation 20:14
“...all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
—Revelation 21:8
Everyone lies, so we’re all condemned!
3. Recognize the good news, that God loves us, so He sent Jesus to earth to die on the cross and pay for our sins.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” —Romans 5:8
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” —John 3:16
4. Understand that salvation is ONLY by your faith in Jesus and His sacrifice, NOT by trusting in anything else, doing good works or turning from your sins.
“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
—Acts 16:31
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” —Ephesians 2:8-9
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”
—Titus 3:5
"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
—Romans 4:5
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
—John 6:47
5. Ask Jesus to save you and give you His free gift of eternal life in heaven. You can pray something like this:
“Jesus, I know I’m a sinner and that I deserve hell. But I believe you died for me so that I can be saved. I accept your free gift of eternal life. I’m only trusting in You and what You did on the cross for me. Amen.”
Here’s what God says: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved...For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
—Romans 10, verses 9 and 13
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
—John 5:24
If you truly meant your prayer asking Jesus to save you, God says you are passed from death unto life - you are saved, and will go to heaven when you die. It’s really that easy!
6. Once you are saved, you cannot lose your salvation no matter what. You are now a born-again child of God, and He will never cast you out. Jesus said:
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.” —John 10:28-29
