WHAT WE BELIEVE
Salvation is by faith alone in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, which paid for our sins.
Eternal security of the believer (once saved always saved). Once someone believes on (trusts in) Jesus Christ alone for salvation, they cannot lose their salvation for any reason. We reject lordship salvation and repenting of sins for salvation. Good works have nothing to do with earning or keeping your salvation. We also don’t believe good works are automatic after salvation.
Those who reject God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus will spend eternity in a literal hell and lake of fire.
We use only the King James Bible. We believe the KJV is the perfect word of God preserved in English, and that there are no errors in it. We reject modern Bible translations as corrupt perversions of God’s word.
We believe in the Godhead found in scripture, one God in three persons (the Trinity). This includes God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, which we receive at salvation. We reject modalism and oneness Pentecostalism.
We reject Calvinism on all five points. We believe Jesus died for everyone, and that God wants everyone to be saved.
The rapture occurs after the Tribulation, before God pours out His wrath on the earth. We do not believe in a secret or imminent rapture.
We reject Zionism and dispensationalism.
We hold to the Biblical account of creation. We believe God created the world in six literal days. We reject the theory of evolution. We also reject gap creation, the day-age theory and any theory that attempts to make the Bible match up with science falsely so called.
Life begins at conception. Abortion at any stage for any reason is murder. We are also against any form of stem cell research that results in the killing of a human embryo.
Homosexuality (sodomy) is an abomination which God punishes with the death penalty. It is the result of rejecting God and being given over to a reprobate (rejected) mind. To protect our children and the church, no current or former homosexual (sodomite) will be allowed in Sword of the Spirit Baptist Church.
We believe God has commissioned the local New Testament church to spread the Gospel through soul winning. It is our duty to win souls for Jesus Christ.
As Christians, we are supposed to live in the world, but still be separated. We oppose worldliness, liberalism and feminism.
We believe music should exalt God and be edifying. We sing traditional hymns.
Baptism by immersion should be performed after salvation. Baptism doesn’t affect your salvation, but is an act of obedience. We reject infant baptism.
